Huey Magoo’s Chicken Tenders Sold To Former Wingstop Executives – ( Orlando Sentinel )

A quartet of former Wingstop executives have purchased Orlando-based Huey Magoo’s Chicken Tenders, the company announced Thursday.

Former Wingstop chief marketing officer Andy Howard is stepping in to take over the chicken strips eatery that started at UCF.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The chain started in 2004 near the University of Central Florida, but has expanded to a location on campus, in Winter Springs and Altamonte Springs.

The company is planning to open two more locations in the coming months at the Millenia Gardens shopping center and in the Dr. Phillips area.

Three of Howard’s former colleagues at Wingstop will join him in the ownership group including former CFO Wes Jablonski, former VP of training Mike Sutter and former head of international training Shawn Lawler.

CEO Larry James is also involved in the investment group.

“When I tasted the food, I knew we really had something incredible on our hands,” Howard said in a statement. “These are the best tasting chicken tenders I’ve ever eaten.”

The chain is known for its chicken tenders, Texas toast and variety of dipping sauces.

The ownership group plans to accelerate franchisee sales in the near future.
