Huey Magoo’s chicken tenders eatery spreads its wings with plans for 20 more C. Fla. sites

A restaurant chain hatched by a pair of Central Floridians has set its sights on at least five new local submarkets this year, and a total of 20 new locations in the region in the next few years, mainly through franchising.

Orlando-based Huey Magoo’s LLC has plans “in motion” to open new eateries in areas such as Apopka, Ocoee, Deltona, ChampionsGate and in and around the Daytona Beach area. This adds to seven existing eateries, including three that opened last year in Lake Mary and two in southwest Orlando near The Mall at Millenia and on Dr. Phillips’ busy Restaurant Row.

Huey Magoo’s was started by local residents Matt “Huey” Armstrong and Thad “Magoo” Hudgens, who sold the concept to the Huey Magoo’s entity for an undisclosed price in 2016, as previously reported by Orlando Business Journal. Armstrong and Hudgens continue to remain with the concept as franchisees.

New restaurants offer jobs to the region, while bringing more options to visitors as well as residents and businesses in the area.
